Lebanon’s tourism and trade sectors started witnessing a slight improvement following the election of a president.
The tourist federation has started to feel the positive impact of the election by witnessing an increase in reservation requests. The hotels occupancy increased to slightly over 60 % nowadays compared to only 45% for the same period last year.
At the same time the head of Beirut Traders Association, Nicolas Chammas expressed his optimism for the coming months, and have good hopes for the future. Furthermore they will work on a plan to boost tourism activities, and among the measures that are planned is the creation of a new low budget carrier by the MEA to attract tourist to Lebanon.
