According to Lebanon´s Minister of Telecommunications Jamal Jarrah, 85% of Lebanese territory is planned to be covered by 4G at the end of March. This is part of a bigger project to improve telecommunication in Lebanon. The project is currently finishing its first phase which includes the addition of 500.000 additional landline numbers once completed the second phase will be to install fiber optics.
The Minister stressed the importance of further collaboration between the private sector and the government. “All the ministry’s capabilities are focused today on planning and coordinating among ministries and administrations and involved parties to develop an environment that embraces entrepreneurs’ initiatives and fulfills the ambitions of the youth, limiting therefore their migration and pushing them towards creating new innovative projects,” he said during the opening of the ArabNet conference.
